About this course

This course is part of a MOOC series of the "Jockey Club CADENZA e-Tools for Elder Care" funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.


This course is open to health and social care professional or anyone who are interested in committing their effort in helping seniors to cope with chronic pain. Chronic pain is a common complaint among older people. Taking this course will help you learn about the impact of chronic pain, the various types of pain assessment, and have an idea of non-pharmacologic approaches to managing chronic pain in older people.


The course opens on 31 August, 2020 and will run through identical issues till mid of 2024. Let us walk through the "Jockey Club CADENZA e-Tools for Elder Care" in understanding the important issues of managing chronic pain in older peopleThe suggested strategies and practical tips learn in this course for managing common chronic pain can be incorporated into daily life with the goals on pain reduction and improving functions of the seniors having pain.


This course is divided into 3 chapters. In addition, there will be quizzes. We estimate that you will need to spend no more than 3 contact hours on average to complete the course. It is in self-paced mode. You can study anytime and anywhere you want. We suggest you could study in a weekly basis for each chapter at your own schedule.  Before you start, here is some helpful information for successful completion of this course.

 

Assessment

After study all the chapters, there will be an assessment consists of 20 quizzes. To facilitate your learning process, assessment are allowed to have multiple attempts. While answering the questions, you are free to refer back to the teaching videos for answers.

After completion of this course, certification of attendance or certification with 3 CNE points (Nurse only) will be awarded. Please refer to the information 'How to get certificate' for details.
