About This Course
This online course comes adapted from the Blended and Online Learning and Teaching Project, a UGC-funded collaboration between five Hong Kong universities (PolyU, HKBU, EdUHK, HKU and HKUST), designed to increase teachers’ knowledge and skills around applying blended and online pedagogies, tools and techniques. In this course you work towards producing a Learning Innovation Plan, in which you design a teaching and learning innovation that harnesses a blended approach.
The course has an introductory section, unit 0, and is then divided into 6 units, each of which takes around 2 hours to complete. It includes videos, interactive activities, forum discussions and much more. Additionally, in order to support your Learning Innovation Plan development, we include a four-part video case study of a colleague from the School of Optometry of PolyU as he develops his own learning innovation of flipping the classroom using Facebook as a platform. In order to complete the course, you need to participate in the course activities and complete a self-check confirming completion. You are also encouraged to follow the guidance in this course to produce a Learning Innovation Plan. Innovation in this sense refers to a personal innovation, designing a lesson that is novel for you using approaches you may not have tried before.
We guide you step-by-step through the process, with support from the video case study, and detailed notes. See you online!
